Tokka: Gotcha 2.0 by ThePhoebster Tokka: Gotcha 2.0 by ThePhoebster
D'OH!!! I was meant to post this yesterday! I thought today was the 18th! I got all discombobulated so I did! :stupidme:

And I didn't want to wait till next January to post this pic cos who knows, I may have improved even more by then. :fingerscrossed:

So on to the pic. 5 years ago yesterday I posted the original version of this and it was my very first Tokka pic ever.

Tokka Request: Gotcha by ThePhoebster

5 years ago guys, 5 fecking years! Janey mac that's crazy so it is! I know they're not in the exact same position but this one looks way better!

It certainly is mental looking back on your own improvement. I remember when I finished the original pic how proud I was of it. (The hell was I thinking :dizzy:) I've learned a lot about anatomy and structure over the past few years, I still need to work on my digital stuff but I'm getting there, slowly but surely, I'm getting there.

I owe a lot to Toph and Sokka. It's because of them, I got back into art and my crazy obsession with them has made be a better artist. I've improved so much because of the awesomeness that is the Tokka ship. Heck I even met my bestest best friend/big sister thingy Leona thanks to these two.

Tokka will always be the OTP of my OTP's. Nothing will ever change that. I'll always ship them even after I kick the bucket and that's a fact!

I still think you should be proud of your original Tokka drawing, but of course the improvement here is fantastic as well! :D I'm glad you joined the Tokka fandom all those years ago!

Oh I am. It will always have a special place in my heart. It is actually mental when you look back at your old art and you realise how much you've improved. It really helped build up my confidence. I still have a long way to go though but I am getting there. :D

Same here! I love Tokka so much it's crazy. I always ship them. Nothing will change that. And I'm so glad you're apart of the Tokka fandom too Mizu. :highfive: You've written some great Tokka stories over the years. I hope to see some more fic's about our favourite Earthbending badass and meat loving warrior from you in the future. :icontokkaglomp:

While you've definitely improved artistically, I'm going to risk your ire and say I like the older one better.

It's their faces.  In the newer pic they look very cartoon-y, with both Sokka and especially Toph's mouth open to bizarre proportions.  Their smiles just seem more realistic in the older version.

It's always nice to look back and see how much one has improved. :) The pose definitely looks a lot more natural this time. They also look more playful, though maybe not quite as snuggly. ;)

Now I'm thinking I should redo my first Tokka fanart from 5+ years ago...

It definitely is. It gives ya a great confidence boost so it does. :D Yeah I do agree with you about it being more playful, but hey as long as it's Tokka, it's all good. :)

I think everyone should should redo their first Tokka piece, be it art or fic.

Nothing against playful Tokka. :D

Haha, that's a good idea. Looking at mine I really will consider it, because it used to be one of my better pieces and now I can cite so many flaws. xD

It's wonderful stuff.

Think you'll do more?
